Ever wondered how many files there are on the Brookville Web Site?
You'd be amazed.
Here are some totals as of October 2002 that will give you an idea of the size of this project:

Total number of files

Number of .mid files
Number of .class files
Number of .js files

They all have to be interlinked perfectly. To each other, and to links out to other web sites.

Why did I take on this project?
I took on this project in the fall of 1996.  It was something I just wanted to do for the Brookville students, parents, alumni, staff, and community.  Mainly because (1) The Bees deserve a good website with up to date information and lots of great links (we're always open for suggested links), (2) because I had the ability and desire to make it happen, and (3) there were no other high school website in the area at the time.

With the support of the students, parents and staff at BHS, its been a great success.  We typically are getting (as of October 2002) between 275 and 350 "hits" each day! (these do not include my hits).  And since starting the project, I have received literally thousands of messages from students, alumni, and staff members (over 2,000 message each school year typically).  Just getting e-mail from all the alumni is exciting.  And sharing the information with everyone is lots of fun.  Each year, we've gotten more support from everyone.  Getting information is my biggest problem.  I can only put online what I get, so if you have some information you think should be online, SEND IT!   If you have pictures you think should be online, let me know.  I can scan them in.

For a long time, AOL users could not get to our web pages if their parental control level was set to less than 18+.  A parent let me know about that in fall of 1998, and even though it took 4 months, I finally got that corrected with AOL and the CyberPatrol people. The website is now reachable from ALL levels of parental control on AOL. We also have received the "Safe Surfin' Award" from the Bedford County Sheriff Office's Blue Ridge Thunder Project.

In the spring of 1999, I obtained the www.bhsbees.com domain name.  Congratulations to YOU, who helped me by your continued support with visits, information, and by spreading the word!  For a long time, there were no other local schools online.  But during 1999-2000, many others area schools  got online. And now, most of them have websites, although they do not keep them updated very well for the most part.  Some of the first schools to get online, who I feel were inspired to get online by the Brookville Web site, are George Wythe Marching Band,  Lord Botetourt Marching Band, Radford High School (the Bobcats),  Salem High School,  The Gretna Hawks Marching Band,   Staunton River Marching Band, Jefferson Forest Marching Band, and probably one of the best marching band websites in the area, Rustburg High School.  (Many of these were marching band-only web sites to start with.)  But that is the way Brookville's started out, too...for the marching band and the football team.

Thanks for all the support. Please keep the information and ideas coming!
