Comments: Dear Mr. Fielding,
It is 1:30 on 12/02/03, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I did not know your son, but if he was anything like you he was one kind and generous person, and one hell-of-a-man. You were one of the people in my life that made a really lasting impression on me. It seems Chris also made a difference in a lot of people's lives.

Here is a little poem I wrote when my brother was killed in 1991.

" Memories"
Go up in the attic, and close the door,
walk softly across the floor.

Gently brush away the cobwebs,
and move the old four poster bed,

just listen,
you will hear them,

your mind will reel,
as in they quietly steal.

Just little pieces of time.
that run across your mind,

and what pieces are these?
Nothing, just memories!

May all your memories of Chris be good ones, and may they never fade!
We all Love you Mr. " Peabody"
With fond remembrance,

George Jones

Comments: Dear Chris,
You were my nephew, and my friend. I was there when you were born, and I was there when you left this Earth for a far better place.

You were cut short in the prime of your life, but you gave so much to those of us you left behind. Because of our mutual heart abnormalities, you always held a special place for me. You were always more than a nephew, and not only did I love you, I respected you because of the encouragement you
gave to me. You wanted so much to have a "normal" life, and because you knew more than most the fragile and fleeting nature of this life here, you never took a day of your life for granted. And to that extent, you were far wiser than most of us in this life. I understand how you prayed each night before
falling asleep for one more day with those that you loved on this earth. I do that too.

It's been almost a year now since you left us, and we still selfishly weep that we only see your smile in pictures, and hear the echo of your laughter in our memories. But we know you will be waiting for us when join you.

God Bless You always.
    Uncle Charles

Comments: Mr. Fielding, Though we may not understand God's plan for our lives, Chris, I am sure is with him now. Speaking only for myself and the amount of respect I have for you and your family, I can only pray that the good Lord above will help you through the grief you are feeling. The summers of working with you, painting the lines on so many parking lots around Lynchburg, I came to know just how proud you are of your family and your children. You should be proud now, that Chris lived life to the fullest and set such an example for so many to follow. My prayers are with you and your family, please let me know if you need anything, anything at all.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know this must be very hard for someone to go through! I never got the chance to talk to Chris or hang out with him. But my friends who knew him and we're friends with him tell me he was an awsome guy! It's so sad that the Brookville community has suffered yet another loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Comments: I was deeply saddened to learn of Chris's untimely passing. While Chris and I were not close, we were friendly. We served on the Yearbook staff together for 2 years, and I have fond memories of Chris. I remember cracking jokes with him, playing card games, and bribing him to put my picture in his spread by agreeing to draw his layout for him. Chris was a sweet, caring, funny person and I feel the Brookville community has lost a kindred spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with the Fielding family at this time.

Comments: Even though I never met Chris, I know for a fact that he had a wonderful family because Mr. Fielding is a great person/teacher! We have been through a number of deaths within the Brookville community for the past several years and each one hits us a little differently. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Chris Fielding.

Comments: Ellen, Kristi, and I met Chris once, about 2 years ago. He was very patient as I kept calling for directions when trying to reach Lynchburg from I-81. When we visited the Fielding residence, he and Kristi bonded, even though she was only 6 at the time and that was the first time that they met.
We will miss Chris, but not nearly as much as Ed, Jean, and Bryan.
The number or other thoughts and prayers for the Fieldings, and the number of folks from near and far who attended the memorial and the funeral services says a lot about how well every member of the Fielding family has treated those around them. If the rest of us could do as well, this world would be a much better place.

Comments: Numb, shocked, devastated...just aren't the words to describe it. I can't believe he's gone. When I first came to Brookville, Chris was one of the first people to make friends with me, and he was one of the few friends that stood by me when I left. He was a great guy, and a great friend. To the people that knew him, he was a happy person, and a loyal friend. And if you never got the chance to know him, you really missed out on something special. Ed, Jean, & Bryan; our thoughts and prayers are with you, and may God keep watch over you in this difficult time.

And to my dear friend Chris: Although I hadn't seen you in more than two years, I know I'll miss you forever. Rest In Peace, old friend.

When he first came to Brookville, he was shy and didn't say much...it wasn't until after high school that I even got to really talk to him and I am so glad I did. He was one of the sweetest guys I've ever known. Even though I hadn't seen him in about 4 years... he's floated into my thoughts many times. Chris was a very special person and anyone who got the chance to know him was a very lucky person. Mr. and Mrs. Fielding, you and Chris are in my prayers. I will miss you Chris and I will always hold a special place in my heart for you. With Sympathy and Love Cherie Bryant Kershner
