Update: June
26, 2003
A 3rd meeting was held
on June 26th at the old Lyle's Home Service building on Timberlake
Road.
Those who attended
were:
Ann Garbee Kostal ('68)
Nancy Gunter Robertson ('68)
David McCoy ('68) & Wanda Roberts ('68)
Randy Lilly ('68)
Larry Lewis ('68) & Susan Rowland Lewis ('69)
Susan Robertson McDaniel ('69)
Larry Snell ('69)
Sara Jane Maddox Ewers ('67)
Mike Hill ('66)
No one attended from the class of 1970.
Kathy Carson needs some help, so if you are class of '70 and think
you can help contact Kathy (click here for
contact info).
- We discussed with Sara Jane and
Mike what we have done so far, so they would be up to speed.
- The availability of DJs and
Bands, their styles, and costs was also discussed. Based on our
previous reunion experiences, nearly everyone agreed that we
needed someone who would be sensitive to the group's dynamics.
If our group seems to want to talk, the music can't be so loud
we are unable to talk over it. That problem seems to have
existed in the past with several different reunions. Sara Jane
is going to check on someone she knows who we all agreed would
be suitable, if they are available (more on that later, when it
is confirmed).
- The checking account is open
with Central National Bank at Waterlick and Timberlake Road.
- The cut-off date was moved back
to September 26th, in order to give the coordinators more time
to try and contact those who do not respond to mailings.
- All classes are to try and get
their first mailing done by mid to late July.
- Any BHS faculty
/ staff member from any class is welcome to attend.
- Flyers will be created and
posted here on the website for each class to be able to print
and post at grocery stores, restaurants, etc.
These should be posted during the months
of July, August and September.
- Larry Lewis will contact TV,
radio stations and cable TV companies and provide the
information for public service announcements (anyone who has a
contact within those, please let Larry know!) Radio
stations around the country in larger cities will also be
provided the information.
- Someone will write a "Letter to
the Editor" for the newspaper, so it will be in the newspaper.
If you have some other ideas on getting it in the newspaper,
please let us know.
- Any class who would like
class-specific information on the website, Larry will be happy
to set up a separate page with that kind of information. Each
class is to contact their own members. Names of missing members
is one thing each class may want to post online. Or maybe Friday
night activity plans, which also would be class-specific.
- Mike Hill said he had some
commitments from some of his classmates to help get in touch
with the class of '66.
The next meeting
will be announced later. Probably in July sometime. In the
meantime, if you'd like to help, contact your class's coordinator.

Update: June
22, 2003
Hey guys,
For those that can make it, there will be a meeting this Thursday
June 26th at 7:30 PM at the old Lyle's Home Service building,
(next to Harley-Davidson Dealership) on Timberlake Rd. This will
be to finalize the details for the reunion in October. We can get
with each class representative also so they will understand what
is expected of them and they can compare notes with the other
classes on what is working best for them to reach their people.
See ya there Thursday.

Update: June
16, 2003
A second meeting was held
on June 12th at the Homebuilders Association. Those who attended
were:
Ann Garbee Kostal ('68)
Linda Kitchen Hughes ('68)
Larry Lewis ('68) & Susan Rowland Lewis ('69)
David McCoy ('68) & Wanda Roberts ('68)
Wayne McDaniel ('68) & Susan Robertson McDaniel ('69)
Sue Johnson Hall ('68)
Larry Snell ('69)
Mike Hill will be representing the class of '66. He was unable to
attend this meeting.
Kathy Myers Carson ('70) also was unable to attend, and is looking
for some help!
Gail Newman Neal ('67) was also unable to attend.
Each class will be responsible for contacting their own people. If
you have a list of addresses for your class, please contact the
person representing your class (List of
Contacts).A majority of
those responding in the online Reunion Guestbook were in favor of
having the reunion in late October rather than the weekend of
Thanksgiving. Based on that, the group agreed that the
reunion would be on Saturday, October 25th, 2003.
Ads will be put on local radio, TV and Cable stations. They also
will be put on radio stations in some of the larger cities around
the country. Posters will be put up in local grocery stores.
(Thanks to Kathy Johnson Drury ('66) for some of these ideas -
keep 'em coming).
Tentative Plans:
Friday night, October 24th: Each class will "do their own
thing". However, this does not mean you can't have a group get
together with classmates from other classes. Most likely, many
will attend the football game. We are expecting October 24th vs.
Staunton River at Stinger Stadium to be Homecoming (but it is not
definite yet). Afterward, everyone is free to get together with
anyone from any class for the rest of the evening, wherever they
like.
Saturday October 25th:
- The location will be the American Legion on Greenview Drive
- Social Hours from 4 PM to 6 PM
- Hors Devours - 6 PM - 8 PM
- Music from 8 PM - 12 midnight (DJ or Band to be determined)
- BYOB
The cost will be $25 per person.
This covers the cost of the
American Legion rental, DJ/Band, mailings, food, banquet license, etc.
The cutoff date for signing up and
sending in your money is September 26th, 2003.

form here in MS-Word - Right-Click here and choose Save-Target-As.
Keep the bottom for your information. Send the top back in.

Update: March 18,
2003
On March 13th, 2003, a meeting
was held at Charlie's Restaurant to start planning a group reunion this
fall for the classes of 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970. This has been
talked about for several years, and now its really going to happen!
There were people at the meeting from 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970.
We had at these people at the meeting (hope I did not forget anyone):
Ann Garbee Kostal ('68)
Nancy Gunter Robertson ('68)
Joe Neal ('68) & Gail Newman Neal ('67)
Kathy Myers Carson ('70)
Linda Kitchen Hughes ('68)
Dianne Carol Mendel ('68)
Larry Lewis ('68) & Susan Rowland Lewis ('69)
David McCoy ('68) & Wanda Roberts ('68)
Wayne McDaniel ('68) & Susan Robertson McDaniel ('69)
The plan is that for each class, at least one person will be the main
contact person. Each class will be responsible for contacting their own
classmates, AND responsible to find out how many from their class will
attend, AND to collect money as needed.
At the meeting, a list from the most recent 1968 reunion was passed out
to those from the class of 1968. The list was split into groups of 15
people, so each person with a list only needs to find and contact 15
people, if possible.
Other classes may do it however they want, using any information they
have. Send your fellow classmates to this website (www.bhsbees.com) , and have them
e-mail, write or call the contact person for your class.
NOTE: The names of the contact persons for each class are not yet on
this page, but they will be soon.
THIS PAGE will be updated with information about the reunion in general
as we get it over the next few months.
The contact persons for each class should send any news or
information they want posted about their class to
BHSReunion@bhsbees.com. This can include a list of names that have
not yet been found, or any other class-specific information, such as
separate get-togethers before or after the main event.
There are no specific plans in place yet, but at the meeting, we talked about two
different dates:
- one would be the weekend of Homecoming, in late October.
- the other would be the weekend of Thanksgiving.
In order to help us decide which weekend
we will have the reunion,
please sign
the
Guestbook for the Classes of 1966-1970 Reunion, or send e-mail to us to let us know which option
is best for you. The option that is most popular will decide when we
have the reunion. In the Guestbook, there is a place to put where you
live, your e-mail address, which weekend you would rather attend, and
how many people would be attending. There's also a place to leave
general comments.
Please provide your updated
mailing address, phone number and e-mail address to your contact person,
even if you are not planning to attend the reunion. I will be listing the names, addresses, e-mail addresses and phone
numbers for the contact persons for each class as soon as I get that
information. If you would like to send it by regular mail, a form you
can print and fill out can be found by
clicking here.
You can help! If you know how to get in touch with any of your
classmates, please provide that information to your contact person, or
contact them yourself and tell them how to get in touch with your
class's contact person, and also tell them about the
www.bhsbees.com web page, where we
will be posting information.
