Watson Family Swim Scholarship (NEW)

The Watson Family Swim Scholarship was established in 2007. Jason (1997) and Lindsay (2000) Watson both were members of the BHS Swim Team which originated in the 1995-96 school year.

Criteria:
1. The recipient must be a graduating senior (male or female) of the BHS Swim Team.

2. The recipient must have been accepted to a 2 yr. or 4 yr. college/university.

3. The recipient must exemplify the core values of BHS’s mission statement (Excellence, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility and Honesty).

4. Selection Process is as follows:
   a. Guidance Director (counselor) checks students’ grades and college potential.
   b. The school Principal, Swim Coach and Athletic Director select a recipient.
 
5. Scholarship of $500.00 will be presented at the Senior Awards Assembly.

6. Check will be made directly to the school of the recipient’s choice.

 

Kiwanis/Gallier Scholarship

Ken Gallier graduated from Brookville High School in the Class of 1963 and
Va. Tech. in 1967. He then attended graduate school at Youngstown State Univ. and the Darden Executive Program at UVA.

Ken spent 28 years with Westinghouse in several states, then purchased from Westinghouse the division he was managing.  He started his own company in 1995. He is now president of WTC Services Inc. (formerly Westinghouse Trading Company-WTC) in Murrysville, PA (near Pittsburgh).  WTC is an international trading company with presence in several countries.

Ken is married to Gayle, and has three sons, Seth, Ryan and Wade.

Because of his appreciation of the assistance the Kiwanis gave him during college, Ken established the Kiwanis/Gallier scholarship.

Since 1997 Ken has provided $15,000 in scholarships for Brookville seniors. The scholarships are for students whose performance in their junior and senior year confirms they are serious about an education. (Grades and activities in the freshman and sophomore year will be disregarded.) Please see your guidance office for the amount and qualification information for the Kiwanis/Gallier Scholarship.

Criteria:
One or more students may be the recipient of the designated amount which is meant to reward academic and/or personal growth since the beginning of ninth grade.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must:

1. Be a senior planning to attend a two/four year college in the fall of the following year.

2. Must complete the application and write a 500 word essay on the following:
Describe the academic, emotional and social growth you have experienced during your high school years.  The committee is specifically interested in learning about the obstacles you have overcome and how your emphasis on academics has increased during your junior and senior year.

3. Show a financial need.

4. Grades have improved, but find it difficult to compete for most scholarships. 


   
 
Martin Scholarship

The Martin Scholarship was established in 1984 to honor the memory of Ed Martin who was president of the BHS Booster Club from 1960-1984. Both of Ed's sons, Carter and Eddie, continued to be active in various aspects of Brookville High School. Carter was President of the Boosters Club from 1993- 1995. Eddie taught and coached Football at BHS from 1975-1985. Carter died in June of 1995 and Eddie died in June of 2000.

Criteria:
1. The recipient must be a graduating senior of the BHS football team.
2. The recipient must have been accepted to a college or university or have made
application to a college or university with reasonable expectations of being accepted.

3. The recipient should demonstrate a high degree of character and self-discipline and must exhibit hard work and determination.

4. Selection process is as follows:
A. School official (counselor) checks students grades and college potential.
B. The school Principal, Head Football Coach, and the Athletic Director select a recipient.
5. Scholarship will be presented at the Senior Awards Assembly.
6. Check will be made directly to the school of the recipient’s choice.
7. Name of scholarship recipient is placed on plaque in the Gym Lobby.

*the amount of the scholarship will be $500-$750 per year


 
Clif Oliver Memorial Scholarship

This award is given each year to a member of the Brookville High School wrestling team in honor of Clifon B. Oliver a long time supporter of The Bee's wrestling program. Clif was a past President of the Boosters club and was one of the co-founders of the Bee's Youth Wrestling Club .

Criteria For The Award:
 
1) The recipient must be a graduating senior of the Brookville High School
varsity wrestling team.

 
2) The recipient must have been accepted by a University or College or have
made application to a University or College with a reasonable expection
of being accepted.

 
3) The recipient must have demonstrated leadership qualities.
 
4) The recipient must have demonstrated a high degree of character,
self-discipline , and determination in pursuit of his wrestling goals.

 
5) The recipient must have demonstrated high moral character.
 
6) The selection committee for the award will be;

    Tom Oliver
    Doyle Allen
    Frank Lukanich Jr.
    The current Brookville High School Head wrestling Coach

The award currently is $500. 

 

Paul Brewer Scholarship

Applicant must have a 2.5 or above GPA and plan on attending a 2 or 4 year college or university or technical / trade school. Selection is also based on need, student’s character, personal merit & background. Merit can be demonstrated in a variety of ways, such as leadership in school, civic & other extracurricular activities, and motivation to serve & succeed in all areas of responsibility.

William Wright Scholarship
