Students Recognized
The Campbell County Department of Public Safety will recognize Alan Briceland, a
Brookville High Senior and member of the Campbell County Rescue Squad on May 4,
2002 for "willingness to utilize his training in protecting lives and property
in Campbell County." On March 18, Alan witnessed from his classroom that a
student being escorted to the nurse's office was having trouble breathing. He
immediately followed the student to the nurse's office. The situation escalated
and the student actually stopped breathing. Alan reacted promptly and
administered CPR to the student who was then able to resume normal breathing. He
remained with the student until the Campbell County Rescue Squad arrived.
Because of Alan's skill, training and quick response, a potential tragedy was
averted.
